In this vastness there are corners where dark, beautiful and terrible things grow and flourish. As humanity gropes ever deeper into the unknown the colossal distance between worlds means inhabited planets are easily forgotten.
Time relativity and divergent evolution plague any attempt at cohesion. Expeditions discover bizarre alien beings only to find out they are human colonies changed beyond recognition. In this isolation planets know their neighbours and little more, fear and superstition reign.
In the void mankind becomes alien to itself.
